In this special edition of Meet The Interns, we’re pulling back the curtain to introduce you to our newest team members. These bright minds bring fresh perspectives, boundless energy, and a whole lot of passion to our already amazing working environment. Curious about their journeys, experiences, and what makes Lizard Global such a unique place to grow?

Who are the new Lizard Global interns?

This team of vibrant interns have been hitting the ball out of the park at every turn. With every project, and challenge faced they’ve been really champs at coming out stronger and wiser. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves, let’s first introduce our amazing interns you see in the image above.

We have Lucas, Emmy, Vincent, and Robin from France, Sepideh from Iran, and Ilya from Russia. As you can see our team is one that is diverse, joining Lizard Global from different parts of the world from different walks of life! Now that you know a little bit about our interns, let’s dive deeper into how they came to be at Lizard Global and what their experiences have been thus far.

Having had the privilege of interviewing these wonderful people, and learning so much, let's get into their story.

Lucas Leroy, Developer

Lucas joined Lizard Global in April of 2024 when he came down to Malaysia with his two friends from school (university), both doing their internship at Lizard Global as well - Emmy and Vincent.

Lucas said “I heard about Lizard Global from those who had done their internship here prior to me. I was very intrigued as I only heard good things about it - whether it was the team or the learning curve in software development.”

He and his two friends decided to go on an adventure to a whole new country, with different cultures, food, and practices. Lucas mentioned that he really liked working at Lizard Global because “if we need help, we will always have someone who is willing to help us. The atmosphere here is truly unique.”

He went on to say that Lizard Global has helped solidify his future goals as “When I leave school (university), I will be better prepared to enter the working world as I have been given responsibilities that have challenged me and have helped me hone my skills. I’ve learnt to communicate better, my technical skills have improved, and I am now better able to work in a group. It is truly incredible!”

Life at Lizard Global is not all work and no play, if it was we wouldn't be the people’s choice for a balanced work/life now would we? Lucas was asked to share his fondest memories and here is what he had to say “ “There are too many! Let’s see Suzie Wong, Friday night company gatherings, restaurant lunches, and of course Wednesday, after work badminton.”

Lucas ended his interview with this very encouraging message for those looking to join Lizard Global “ Come to Lizard Global, it is the best decision to make!”

Emmy, Developer

Next up we have Emmy, joining the company at the same time as Lucas. Emmy shared with us her journey of how she came to do her internship at Lizard Global, stating “Before joining Lizard Global, I was in my fourth year of engineering school, where we had to complete an internship to validate our course. I heard about Lizard Global from previous interns who were at the same school as me. Their feedback was very positive and that encouraged and interested me. I decided to join Lizard Global not only for their good reputation, but also because their field of work perfectly matched my professional interests. I believed that this company would be able to help me develop my skills and put to practice what I’ve learnt. So, it was a no brainer at all deciding to come to Malaysia to do my internship at Lizard Global”

Once here Emmy got to live through what her seniors told her about. The company culture, people, the work environment, and the work she’d had to do. Did it live up to her expectations? Let’s see what she had to say about that - “What I particularly appreciate about my work at Lizard Global is the spirit of mutual assistance and the good atmosphere within the company. It really creates a collaborative and supportive work environment. Additionally, I feel comfortable and respected, without fear of being judged, as my voice is heard and my suggestions taken into account. It really makes for a pleasant and motivating working space that has helped me grow and be less afraid of taking on projects”

Emmy went on to say that working here had helped her gain a different perspective of working in a company. “I’ve heard horror stories from friends who’ve entered the working world and I must say that is the furthest from what I have experienced here so far.”

Now, let’s see the less serious side of working at Lizard Global shall we. Similar to Lucas Emmy was asked to share the most fun memory she has had here and this was her reply “The funniest memory I have so far at Lizard Global was all the parties and events the company hosted. These moments are always memorable and filled with joy, creating positive memories that mark my first professional experience. Sharing these moments with my colleagues is really great and helps to strengthen bonds not only within my team but also those from other teams as well.

Emmy ended the interview encouraging those interested to join the company to go for it saying “For me, the social aspect is really important. Feeling good where you work is essential to being happy, because that's where we spend a large part of our lives. If you are looking for a place full of life where you will be comfortable while maintaining the seriousness and professionalism of the work Lizard Global will be a perfect fit for you! This company does not only offer professional development opportunities, but also a warm and welcoming work environment.”

Vincent, Developer

Rounding up the trio interns from the Kuala Lumpur office is Vincent. His journey to joining Lizard Global was similarly inspired by that of Emmy’s where he heard great things from his seniors and was very taken by their experience then deciding to join his two friends Lucas and Emmy in Malaysia.

Vincent stated that the company’s flexibility, team, and great atmosphere are the aspects he genuinely appreciates and likes about Lizard Global. He loves the challenges that come with taking on anything new and credits his team for helping him sharpen his skills.

He went on to say “I’ve learnt a lot about software development and project management. I was part of a project, which involved redesigning an Android application. I had never developed an Android application before, and I am proud of the results achieved with the help of Chathuri, the Head of Software Engineering. The clients were also extremely satisfied, and for me, it is a successful project that I am proud of.”

His best memory here thus far is one that he was not expecting, and it must be said that the small group of organizers are very proud of themselves. “I think the most memorable moment was when the entire Lizard Global team surprised me with a birthday cake and wished me a happy birthday. I didn't expect it at all!” Vincent shared with us.

Vincent shared his thoughts and words of encouragement to those contemplating doing their internship at Lizard Global, “I think I would recommend everyone to do their internship here. I have had the most unique experiences, have made unforgettable connections, and have learnt so much in just four months here! ”

Robin, Developer

Robin has been with us in the Netherlands office for about four months now, and his journey from France to Rotterdam began thanks to his engineering school. Students from Polytech Montpellier are obligated to carry out what is called “international mobility” which is an experience for people to get educational, professional, and social and international skills to help shape one's ability to adapt to international locations. While browsing through and researching the list of possible companies he had to choose from, Robin landed on Lizard Global. The reason the company stood out to him is that his values and that of the company’s are aligned.

“In my four months here, I’ve learnt a lot and have had many great experiences, but the one thing that stands out the most to me are the working environment and company culture. Lizard Global’s collaborative and inclusive practice along with their relaxed and flexible/Agile ways of working is something I’ll remember for a long time. With these comes the motivation to do and be better every step of the way” Robin shared when asked what he liked most about working at Lizard Global.

He goes on to share how the Scrum method has helped his productivity as he recalls working on a project that was pretty substantial in nature that required him to step out of his comfort zone and bring his A-game, while of course being able to lean on his team when needed. “To work using the Scrum method really helped as it enables the team including myself to take short breaks, and this really did help to improve my productivity.”

While he wasn’t busy working, Robin had many fun sessions with the Rotterdam team, he said “I had the most fun during dinner with my colleagues in Rotterdam, we not only ate great food but we spent so much time laughing but don’t ask me about what, I can’t remember now. I just remember having so much fun”.

When asked his opinion on what he’d say to someone interested in joining Lizard Global he has these four simple words to conclude the session “You won’t regret it”.

Ilya, Product Owner

Ilya who is from Russia has spent the last 5 months with us coming to know about Lizard Global during his master’s programme in Hogheschool Rotterdam when our CEO Jeremy, was a guest lecturer. They got to talking and Jeremy gave Ilya his business card, which prompted his research into the company. The more he learned about the company the more he wanted to join it, and by the end of it with all doubts gone he had made his decision to join us.

When asked about what he liked about the company, here's what he had to say: “First of all, this is the nicest team I've ever seen. It’s such a privilege to work with a team that is ever willing to lend a helping hand. After that comes the progressive principles that the company operates with: Design Thinking, Lean Start Up, Lean Analytics, Scrum. I believe that this is what has driven the company forward from where they started to where they are today - 10 years later”.

He went on to share just how much he has learnt in his five months with Lizard Global “I learnt digital design, this is something that I've wanted to do for a very long time but hadn’t had the chance to do til I joined the company. Being here has also taught me the importance of teamwork and how to effectively communicate, as well as how to be more attentive to client preferences, because at the end of the day we want to deliver the best for our clients. I’ll say this the thing I find very unique about the company firstly, the teachers who are always willing to help and secondly the incredibly friendly staff”.

While he has had the opportunity to dab into multiple projects the one that stands out to him is the first project he ever worked on. “To this day that is the project I’m most proud of because the experience I gained working on that project really helped me develop my skills as a product owner of turning ideas into concrete concepts and supporting the whole team to bring the idea to life”.

When Ilya is not supporting the team or being a bridge between the client and company he fondly remembers the fun times he’s had playing FIFA with Kaz, the Head of Product Owner.

He ended his interview by saying this to the curious souls who’re interested in joining us “This is without a doubt the best experience to go through and have in life”.

Sepideh Khorrami, Multimedia Design

Joining us from Iran is Sepideh, our multimedia design intern. Before joining Lizard Global as an intern, she had just completed her second master's degree in data-driven design, which complimented her previous Master of Visual Communication. Sepideh said “I was eager to find a company that would allow me to apply my1 unique blend of skills and knowledge in both data-driven design and visual communication.”

While researching for job opportunities, she came across Lizard Global and was immediately drawn to what it stands for “pushing the boundaries of product design”. She was so impressed by the company’s commitment in collaborative and innovative work she truly believed that this would be the perfect place for her to start off her career. “I was particularly excited about the opportunity to collaborate with other designers, learn from their expertise, and contribute to the development of cutting-edge products and user experiences.”

She shared how she truly felt about her two months with us so far, saying “What I truly appreciate about working at Lizard Global is the company's unique and balanced work/life culture. From the moment I joined, it was evident that colleagues here are not just coworkers but also friends who genuinely support and encourage one another. “I'm already seeing significant growth in my professional skills and knowledge.” She shared how Lizard Global has helped her grow professionally. “The collaborative environment and mentorship from experienced colleagues have enabled me to adapt and enhance my skills swiftly.”
