Project Background

The DEXTR application offers the easiest taxi service in the Netherlands. They connect and combine local taxi organizations into a single application. By bundling their forces, DEXTR is available in all of the Netherlands.

Challenges

Currently, while people are able to use several apps to order instant car rides and services (Uber, Lyft, etc.), there is a support gap in more rural areas with these apps or areas where there is not as much interest in being a driver - leading to a mobility gap for end users. Additionally, many of these apps do not support the ability to pre-order a ride. Users could benefit from lower pricing and the security of knowing that they can reserve a ride well ahead of time.

Problem solving with design thinking workshop

DEXTR is an application that makes booking a ‘regular’ taxi easy, reliable, and transparent. People can use a single taxi app across the whole country. After booking a taxi, the taxi is 100% yours and you have a professional driver. The driver won’t cancel your ride if they find a better one. DEXTR uses a single fixed price that will be shown before booking, so no unpleasant surprises.

Together with the client, DEXTR, we developed a mobile application an easy, reliable, and transparent taxi booking app. Currently available on app stores, the app solves the gap for instant car booking services in rural areas, which other competitor apps do not provide.
