LERENG TANAH
Scalable Booking System for Hospitality

Project Background
Tanah is a premium farm-style Airbnb retreat owned by Ayu, located approximately 1.5 hours from the city. Set on expansive land and thoughtfully maintained, the property combines nature, privacy, and striking interior design to deliver a high-end yet value-for-money stay.
Thanks to its unique positioning and guest experience, Lereng Tanah consistently attracts strong demand and high booking volumes. While Airbnb played a key role in establishing visibility, our client envisioned a more independent, brand-owned digital presence that reflected the exclusivity of her property and gave her greater control over how bookings were managed.
Challenges
Like many successful Airbnb hosts, our client faced the limitations of operating solely on a third-party platform. Airbnb’s commission structure, strict policies, and lack of flexibility meant that pricing, guest communication, and booking rules were largely dictated by the platform.
The core challenge was to create a standalone booking website that allowed direct reservations on our client’s own terms, without losing the momentum already built on Airbnb. This required real-time synchronisation between platforms to avoid double bookings, a seamless payment flow, and minimal operational overhead.
Crucially, the solution needed to be cost-effective and easy to manage, as running an additional sales channel should not translate into more manual work.

Problem solving with design thinking workshop
Lizard Global led the solution with a product-first approach, aligning user experience, system architecture, and business objectives from the outset. Product design focused on mapping critical user and operational flows—guest discovery, availability checks, booking, payment, and confirmation—to ensure the platform reduced friction while minimising manual intervention.
The website was intentionally designed to function as a lightweight web application rather than a static marketing site, enabling direct bookings with clear information hierarchy, intuitive navigation, and conversion-driven UX.

Key features
Centralised Booking Management
All reservations from Airbnb and the direct website are synchronised in real time, preventing booking conflicts and manual intervention.
Commission-Free Direct Bookings
By leveraging API, Lereng Tanah avoids per-booking commissions, paying only a predictable monthly fee.
Integrated Payment Processing
Secure, seamless payments are handled directly within the booking flow, ensuring a smooth guest experience.
Automated Invoices and Receipts
The system automatically generates invoices and receipts, reducing administrative workload.
Responsive Contact & Enquiry Forms
Guests can easily reach out with questions, improving communication and conversion rates.

The impact
Multi-Channel Revenue Growth
Lereng Tanah now generates bookings from both Airbnb and its own website without operational complexity.
Reduced Platform Dependency
Direct bookings significantly reduce reliance on Airbnb and eliminate commission costs.
Strong Traction
The website attracted over 1,000 visitors within the first month and still rakes in an equally high volume of visitors, validating demand for direct bookings.
Conclusion
This project demonstrates how premium hospitality brands can reclaim control from third-party platforms without sacrificing visibility or efficiency. By introducing a commission-free, synchronised booking website, Lereng Tanah successfully transitioned from platform dependency to digital ownership—strengthening its brand, improving margins, and future-proofing its business.
