Navingo is a B2B trade publisher operating four leading maritime industry titles: Offshore Energy, Offshore Wind, Dredging Today, and Naval Today. Its core readership consists of maritime professionals, engineers, project managers, and procurement leaders who rely on their publications for daily operational content, supporting a strong business model built on verified audience advertising and paid reader subscriptions.

Challenges

Each of Navingo’s four publication titles ran on its own isolated WordPress installation, resulting in four plugin stacks, four separate admin logins, and four distinct codebases to maintain. Every page load required fresh PHP rendering and heavy plugin processing, creating platform-wide slowness and performance degradation. Because each title operated independently, editorial workflows were fragmented, and rolling out new features like a modern paywall or updated ad stack required duplicating development efforts four times over. Additionally, with a decade of accumulated SEO equity and live advertiser and subscriber revenue at risk, Navingo required a transition that would preserve search rankings and historical URL structures with zero migration downtime.

Problem solving with design thinking workshop

Lizard Global engineered a multi-tenant, headless publishing platform using Next.js and Payload CMS 3.0. By deploying Incremental Static Regeneration (ISR), public pages are pre-rendered and served straight from the edge, while dynamic components like admin panels, paywalls, and checkout flows render on demand. A unified admin interface featuring tenant switching allows the editorial team to manage all four publications in one place while maintaining complete data and cache isolation between brands. Lizard Global also established a shared component library built on Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui using design tokens to maintain each brand's distinct visual identity, along with integrated metered paywalls via Stripe and ad management via Google Ad Manager.
