Project Background

MoRPH App, a cutting-edge solution developed in collaboration with Wageningen University, has revolutionized the way researchers measure and analyze crops across the European Union. Designed with a seamless, user-friendly interface, the app simplifies complex processes and significantly enhances efficiency for agricultural researchers. With a focus on standardizing crop measurement procedures, (Mobile-based Rapid PHenotyping) MoRPH App ensures consistency and accuracy, enabling researchers to handle high-volume scanning tasks—up to 100,000 crops per day—with ease. This innovative tool is setting a new benchmark for agricultural research by combining advanced technology with an intuitive design, tailored to meet the needs of Europe’s leading agricultural experts.

Challenges

The primary challenge was to design an app that made the process of scanning crops seamless, intuitive, and highly efficient. With researchers tasked with scanning up to 100,000 crops daily, the app needed to drastically reduce the time and effort involved while maintaining precision and ease of use.

Problem solving with design thinking workshop

To overcome these challenges, several solutions were implemented to enhance the MoRPH App’s functionality and usability. The navigation was redesigned to improve user flow, making it more intuitive and enabling users to complete tasks effortlessly. The interface was upgraded with larger buttons, clear visuals, and streamlined layouts to ensure ease of use and accessibility. Additionally, new functionalities were integrated, such as options to create trials, scan samples, and analyze results, simplifying the overall process. The workflow was also optimized and redefined into logical steps, including selecting trials, scanning samples, and generating results, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience for users.
